Upon completion of Learn-to-Row, a rower will have the following knowledge and skills:

Safety

1. Knows traffic pattern
2. Wears appropriate clothing
3. Has viewed the USRowing safety video
4. Knows how to stop the boat

Equipment

1. Knows how to carry the oars and boat
2. Knows how to move the footstretchers
3. Knows parts of the boat and oar (slides, seats, rigger, blade, oarlock, etc…)

Technique

1. Has proper grip
2. Knows the positions of the stroke:
   • Finish
   • Drive
   • Recovery
   • Catch
3. Knows sequencing on drive & recovery
4. Understands Ratio 1:2, Slow recovery
5. Knows how to set the boat while not rowing
6. Knows how to feather
7. Knows the arc of the oar
8. Knows how to back
9. Knows how to turn the boat around
10. Is able to add in and drop out
